Housing Crisis in Madison PSA
In the fall of 2022, one of my Digital Studies classes had an assignment that was focused on taking an issue we felt passionate about on campus, and to make a quick but attention-grabbing PSA. With a focus on audience as well as conciseness of argument and visual aids to drive it home, the end product was a PSA on the volatile housing crisis of UW-Madison's campus for its students.
Two versions of the PSA were created, with one being shorter focusing on stronger emphasis and visuals.
Mini-Podcast: YouTuber Burnout
Over the period of time YouTube has been around, many creators have found large followings and unprecedented fame. But with fame comes a cost - audiences demanding more output, pressure to submit to the platform's whims, and possible dependence on the platform for income. YouTuber burnout has been a topic of discussion when it comes to platforms composed of user-based content and its support (or lack thereof) for these very same creators.
In this mini podcast, I discuss the term and the arguments that both sides share on the topic.
Zine of Poems
Zines are small-circulation self-published works of original or appropriated texts and images, usually reproduced via a copy machine or by hand. They can be created by groups or individuals with a particular call to action or more focused on artistic expression.
In one of my most impactful courses at UW-Madison, the semester project was to create a zine. In my zine, I took quotes from personal poetry and placed them within compositions of spliced images I found online.
